2018 SOU INTERNATIONAL VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM HAS STARTED

The Opening Ceremony of 2018 SOU International Visiting Scholar Program was held on Guoshun Campus on June 4th. Nineteen international visiting scholars from 18 countries will participate in this year’s program. The specially invited scholar Dr. David James and faculty members of the Institute of International Exchanges have attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. Weng Zhuhua—Executive Dean of Institute of International Exchanges.

Dr. Weng Zhuhua addressed the opening ceremony, and expressed a warm welcome to the presents of the visiting scholars. She also introduced the background of SOU and the outline of the development. She also wished that the international visiting scholars will get a better understanding of the schooling system of SOU and to promote the exchanges and collaborations of SOU and the home institutions of the visiting scholars.

In the following two weeks, the international visiting scholars will participate in various activities, a number of academic seminars and pay on-site visit to SOU branch schools. In order to share the best practice and enforce the influence of the program, the Institute of International Exchanges (IIE) of SOU will also invite the international students from the International Teachers Education Center of East China Normal University to attend the seminars.

There are 136 applicants from 35 countries have sent their applications for the program and through a strict selection process, IIE of SOU has selected 19 scholars from 18 countries to participate in this program.
