IIE HOLDS COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES FOR SCU/SOU JOINT PROGRAM

Institute of International Exchange (IIE) held commencement ceremonies November 3rd, awarding 31 bachelor’s degrees and 54 associate bachelor’s degrees and diplomas in business administration as part of the Shanghai Open University’s joint program with the Southern Cross University of Australia.

Professor Gu Xiaomin, Vice President of Shanghai Open University, Professor Peter Lee, Vice Chancellor of Southern Cross University and the Honorable John Dowd AO QC, Chancellor of Southern Cross University attended the ceremony. Professor Liu Wenfu, Dean of Institute of International Exchange of Shanghai Open University, hosted the ceremony.

Forty-three degree recipients were in attendance to receive their degrees. To date, 1000 bachelor’s degrees of Southern Cross University have been awarded to students who have studied at Shanghai Open University through the joint program, which began in 1999. Chancellor of Southern Cross University, the Honorable John Dowd AO QC, commented: “We at Southern Cross University have very much enjoyed our association with Shanghai Open University. Its graduates will go on to help the growth of People’s Republic of China, making it even more successful.“ Vice President of Shanghai Open University, Professor Gu Xiaomin, expressed her confidence in future cooperation with Southern Cross University.
